Bettendorf — The Family Museum will host an Eclipse Viewing Party on Monday, August 21. Activities will be held from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm with eclipse viewing from 1:00 – 1:30 pm, weather permitting. Visitors will make a special piece of art with rays from the sun, do an orbit dance, attempt to make their own eclipse, meet an astronomer, and take a look at the sun with a solar telescope. The Family Museum party will end with a viewing of the partial eclipse through special eclipse glasses and a viewing of NASA's live stream of the total eclipse.

The Family Museum will have certified eclipse glasses for the first 100 visitors. Guests are reminded never to look directly into the sun unless they have certified glasses. Looking directly into the sun can cause blindness, even during an eclipse. For more information, please visit NASA's website for details. https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/safety

This event is included with general admission and is free for Family Museum members. Admission is $8 for ages 2-59, $4 for one year old children, and $4 for seniors 60+. Children under one are free.
