WEST DES MOINES, IOWA (June 4, 2025) — Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences recognizes Spring 2025 award recipients.

Robert Gallagher, a native of Bettendorf, Iowa (52722), received the following honors:

Gold Humanism Honor Society, members were nominated by their peers for compassionate care to patients, creating a community of caring in the workplace and serving as leaders in the practice of humanism.

Ethan Filby, a native of East Moline, Illinois (61244), received the following honors:

Alpha Eta Honor Society, a national scholastic honor society for the allied health professions. Its purpose is to promote and recognize scholarship, leadership and contributions to the allied health professions.

Located in West Des Moines, part of Iowa's capital metro, Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences offers ten graduate-level professional-degree programs in anatomy, biomedical sciences, health-care administration, occupational therapy, osteopathic medicine, physical therapy, physician-assistant studies, podiatric medicine, and public health. Founded in 1898, the institution offers superior academics in a collaborative environment. DMU students' scores on national examinations, pass-rates on board certifications, and match-rates for medical residency programs are consistently higher than national averages and rates at peer institutions.
