Washington, D.C. – Congressman Dave Loebsack released the following statement after it was announced that Zachary Bunn was selected to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point next year. Bunn resides in Bettendorf and attends Bettendorf High School. He is the son of James and Lisa Bunn. Loebsack nominated Bunn last year with the final decision made by the Academy.
“Each year, I look forward to nominating outstanding future leaders, like Zachary, to attend our nation’s service academies. His selection is recognition of his hard work and determination,” said Loebsack. “As a military parent with children who attended a service academy, this selection means a lot to me, as I know it does to Zachary and his family. Every Iowan should be proud of his future service to our nation.”
Each year, Congressman Loebsack may nominate up to five Iowans for each Academy, with the final selection for admission made by the individual Academy. Our nation’s Service Academies offer educational opportunities for young people interested in military service. Students can specialize in a variety of fields at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, as well as at the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, the Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, and the Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point.
