Washington, D.C. – Congressman Dave Loebsack released the following statement after the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released its analysis of the Senate Republican’s healthcare repeal plan. The report concluded that over ten years, approximately 22 million fewer people would have healthcare coverage than under current legislation.

“The new CBO report reaffirms what many have feared – that the Senate healthcare repeal plan will still rip healthcare coverage from 22 million Americans. The bill also slashes $772 billion from Medicaid, which provides coverage to America’s most vulnerable, including seniors, children, people with disabilities and the working poor. It does all of this while giving the 400 highest income families a $33 billion tax break. There is no doubt that we must continue to improve the ACA, but it is clear that this version is just as mean and heartless as the House version passed earlier this summer. I will continue to fight to ensure Iowans get the healthcare coverage they need and deserve.”
