BETTENDORF, IOWA (May 20, 2025) — Paul Norton Elementary is excited to announce the grand opening of its new Outdoor Learning Space, scheduled for Friday, May 23, 3PM. The dedication ceremony will take place at the school’s campus at the corner of Greenbrier Drive and Crow Creek Road, and community members are warmly invited to attend.

The new Paul Norton Outdoor Learning Space is designed to provide students with a dynamic environment to explore, learn, and grow through direct engagement with nature. This multi-use space will serve both educational and communal purposes, offering a unique setting for lessons, creativity, and reflection.

“This space will inspire creativity, foster a love for nature, and provide a welcoming environment for students and the community,” said Deb Zupke, Paul Norton PTA President.

Community-Driven Support

This transformative project was made possible by:

  • Dedicated PTA members and parent volunteers
  • The generosity of Paul Norton families
  • A $32,000 grant from the Scott County Regional Authority (SCRA)

Over the past two years, the PTA has led sustained fundraising efforts with enthusiastic backing from families and local supporters, making this long-standing vision a reality.

Honoring a Beloved Educator

The space will also include a memorial in honor of the late Jennifer Colarusso, a cherished member of the school’s staff.

Her family generously contributed to the project to ensure her legacy continues to inspire future generations.

Join us for this special event as we celebrate learning, nature, and community.
