Thousands of children and adolescents in the U.S. are diagnosed with cancer each year, and many will need blood products regularly during treatment. The American Red Cross, along with our partner Sport Clips Haircuts – a proud supporter of childhood cancer research, is urging eligible donors to help kids kick cancer by giving blood during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month this September. In thanks, those who come to give blood Sept. 1-30 will receive a coupon for a free Sport Clips haircut via email.

Attached is a news release with more details. [RADIO ONLY: Additionally, the following link can be used to download pre-recorded 15- and 30-second PSAs focused on the Sport Clips partnership, which can be used through Sept. 30 to encourage the community to give blood or platelets.

Thank you for helping educate the community about the important role blood donors play in helping cancer patients and others in need of lifesaving transfusions. Please let me know if you have any questions, would like to set up an interview or need additional information.

Sincerely,

Laura McGuire | External Communications Manager
