IOWA CITY, IOWA (May 8, 2020) — Representative Dave Loebsack released the following statement today after the US Department of Health and Human Services announced an additional round of grants for health centers located across Iowa’s Second Congressional District. These grants are specifically targeted to help expand testing for COVID-19 in their communities. Details are below.
“One of the biggest obstacles we face in the reopening of our communities is the need for widespread testing. I am pleased that Iowa’s Community health centers are taking a leading role in helping get tests to all those in need,” said Rep Loebsack. “Community health centers are on the frontlines of health-care, whether battling COVID or ensuring folks get the care they need on a daily basis. I am pleased these funds are being made available to give community health centers the resources they need to serve their communities”
Funding for expanded testing at community health centers, include:
- Burlington — $362,944 for Community Health Centers of Southeastern Iowa Inc.
- Davenport — $715,759 for Community Health Care Inc.
- Leon — $246,799 for Community Health Centers of Southern Iowa Inc.
- Ottumwa — $393,409 for River Hills Community Health Center Inc.
