WASHINGTON DC (April 30, 2019) — Representative Dave Loebsack announced today that he will host an US Service Academy Day on Saturday, May 4, at the Downtown Davenport Library. At the Service Academy Day, representatives from the US Air Force Academy, US Coast Guard Academy, US Naval Academy, US Military Academy at West Point, US Merchant Marine Academy, University of Iowa Army ROTC, and the University of Iowa Air Force ROTC will be available to meet with students and their families about enrolling and attending a Service Academy. The representatives will also be able to discuss what it is like to attend a Service Academy, how to apply, and best practices for getting accepted. High-school students, parents/guardians, and media are invited to attend.

Each year, Rep Loebsack may nominate up to five Iowans for each Academy, with the final selection for admission made by the individual Academy. Our nation’s Service Academies offer educational opportunities for young people interested in military service. Students can specialize in a variety of fields at the US Naval Academy at Annapolis, the US Military Academy at West Point, the Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs and the Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point.
