WASHINGTON DC (April 30, 2019) — Representative Dave Loebsack released the following statement after flood barriers in Davenport were breached, leading to flooding in the downtown area. For those who are affected, Lincoln School in Davenport has been opened as a shelter.

“First and foremost, I am thankful for our public works officials who are working to stop the flood waters from spreading and the local emergency responders who are out helping those who may be trapped or need assistance. My staff is on the scene of the flooding to provide any assistance that may be needed. I will continue to be in contact with City and County officials to ensure they have all the tools necessary to keep folks safe, prevent further damage, and start with clean-up when the waters recede. I will also continue to work with FEMA and the Trump Administration to ensure the local emergency-responders have access to the resources the federal government can provide.

“Additionally, until the waters recede, I implore everyone to follow the instructions of local officials and stay away from the affected areas.”
