DAVENPORT, IOWA (May 16, 2025) — The Quad Cities Bicycle Club will sponsor the Ride of Silence on Wednesday, May 21. The ride commemorates those who’ve lost their lives or were injured while cycling on public roadways, and also aims to raise awareness among law enforcement, public officials, and the members of the community of the legal presence of cyclists on public roadways, and the need to respect the rights of those riding bicycles.

The ride will take off from Schwiebert Riverfront Park in Rock Island at 6PM and return at about 7:30PM. Riders are required to wear helmets, ride in a group at a pace of no more than 12 miles per hour, and observe all traffic and safety rules. Those participating should also remain silent throughout the ride, in memory of all cyclists who were killed or injured while riding.

The local Ride of Silence is one of more than 200 that are expected to take place in 40 states across the nation and 14 nations around the world. This is the 23rd year for the Ride of Silence, which is usually scheduled for the third Wednesday in May. Learn more at the Ride of Silence website, at rideofsilence.org.
