AVERLY, IOWA (July 6, 2022) — Roberto Munoz, who is conducting research as part of the 2022 University of Iowa Summer Research Opportunity Program, will present his research findings on Wednesday, July 27.

Munoz, a junior in biochemistry from East Moline, will share his work at the UI Summer Undergraduate Research Conference, 1-5PM, in the Iowa Memorial Union Main Lounge.

Participants were paired with University of Iowa faculty mentors to conduct cancer research as part of the program.

"As a pre-med student at Wartburg, I saw this as a great opportunity I had to take," Munoz said.

In addition to the research stipend, the students also received a stipend from Wartburg's undergraduate-research program.

Wartburg, a four-year liberal-arts college internationally recognized for community engagement, enrolls 1,543 students. Wartburg is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and named after the castle in Germany where Martin Luther took refuge, disguised as a knight, during the stormy days of the Reformation while translating the Bible from Greek into German.
