IOWA CITY, IOWA (05/11/2023) — Twenty-third students enrolled in the Henry B Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa who received annual awards presented by the Department of Accounting.

"The Accounting program at the University of Iowa is highly regarded and our outstanding scholars exemplify the leadership and scholarship that our graduates are known for," said Cristi Gleason, Accounting Department Executive Officer and the Carlson-KPMG Research Professor in Accounting.

"We are proud to recognize their outstanding achievements and look forward to hearing about their successes," she added.

The Department of Accounting's undergraduate and Master of Accountancy (MAc) programs are consistently recognized for educational excellence. The National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) ranked University of Iowa graduates' CPA exam performance highest of the state of Iowa's public universities and 13th of all large accounting programs in the United States based on the most recent data. The Department of Accounting Writing and Communications Program, which integrates communication skills throughout the undergraduate and MAc curriculum, was named "a point of distinction" in the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accreditation report.

Faculty Scholars

Presented to students who have demonstrated superior academic performance and contributions to the Department of Accounting while completing an undergraduate accounting major.

Iowa Society of CPAs Outstanding Senior Award

Presented to the outstanding senior accounting major who is graduating in the current academic year.

Department of Accounting Outstanding Junior Award

Presented to the outstanding junior accounting major.

Excellence in Writing Award

Presented to students who have demonstrated excellence in writing in accounting courses.

Federation of Schools of Accountancy Award for Outstanding M.Ac. Student

Presented to the outstanding Master of Accountancy (M.Ac.) student who is graduating in the current academic year.

Byron R Ross Awards for Teaching Excellence

Presented to Teaching Assistants who have demonstrated teaching excellence in accounting courses.
