FAYETTE, IOWA (September 6, 2023) — Upper Iowa University (UIU) has been named a Military Friendly Top 10 Spouse School Award recipient in the private university, not offering a doctorate, category for 2023-24. UIU currently holds a Military Friendly Top 10 Gold School Award for 2023-2024 in the private university, not offering a doctorate category for current military and veterans.

"Upper Iowa University is committed to offering accessible higher education and lifelong learning opportunities to fit the needs of today's veterans, military personnel and their families," UIU Interim President Kathy Franken said. "We are honored to continue to be recognized for our efforts to offer a wide variety of educational programs to ensure that all students are provided with the ability to obtain an Education Built for Life and achieve their education and career goals."

A private, non-profit university founded in 1857, UIU provides undergraduate- and graduate-degree programs at several US education locations, including military installations in Kansas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. UIU offers flexible and affordable educational opportunities for the entire military family. Face-to-face, online, and self-paced learning opportunities are available to individuals located around the world.

In addition to financial grants and programs available to military students, the UIU Military Family Grant is available for qualified spouses and dependents. The Military Family Grant offers a $250 per credit hour tuition rate for undergraduate courses and a $325 per credit hour tuition rate for graduate courses to the spouses and dependents of all active duty, reserve, and National Guard service members.

A participating institution in the Principles of Excellence and Yellow Ribbon programs, UIU has been named a top Military-Friendly School or University by Military Advanced Education and Viqtory on multiple occasions. Online undergraduate programs at Upper Iowa University have also been ranked among the best online programs for veterans and service members by US News and World Report.

The 2023-2024 Military Friendly Schools list will be published in the October issue of GI Jobs magazine and can be found at militaryfriendly.com. Methodology, criteria, and weightings were determined by Viqtory with input from the Military Friendly Advisory Council of independent leaders in the higher-education and military-recruitment community.
