Thank you for inviting me here today. I appreciate the opportunity to speak with the employees here at the International Trade Commission and help celebrate your annual awards day.

 

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (November 7, 2019) — The TaxSlayer Center's annual Christmas tree is scheduled to arrive today, Thursday, November 7, at approximately 10-10:30AM. The tree is being donated by the Regency Place Condo Association, per Jim Marsh, of East Moline. The tree is approximately 30-35' tall.  Media is invited and encouraged to attend as the tree is raised.

 

DAVENPORT, IOWA (November 7, 2019) — The Vera French Foundation hosted its annual Gala on Saturday, October 26th at The Outing Club in Davenport, Iowa. The event celebrated the organization’s 70th anniversary. Since 1949, Vera French Community Mental Health Center (previously the Scott County Mental Health Center before being renamed after Dr Vera French in 1982) has been providing community mental health services.

DUBUQUE, IOWA (November 7, 2019) — University of Dubuque has once again been nationally recognized for its dedication to providing quality educational opportunities to veterans and military-connected students.

For the third straight year, Military Times named UD to its Best for Vets: Colleges rankings. UD was the highest-ranked Iowa institution, placing 19th on a list of 134 four-year universities.

DES MOINES, IOWA (November 7, 2019) — Iowa Department of Corrections and Iowa Workforce Development will host the Employer and Reentry Breakfast Roundtable at the North Central Correctional Facility in Rockwell City, Iowa, on December 12. Governor Kim Reynolds, who will be kicking-off the event, encourages employers, recruiters and human-resource managers to attend the Employer and Reentry Breakfast Roundtable and to learn about the opportunities available with hiring returning citizens.

WEST DES MOINES, IOWA (November 7, 2019) — On Monday, November 11, Hy-Vee will host its annual Veterans Day breakfasts with a complimentary meal for veterans and active-duty military members in recognition and thanks for their service. More than 90,000 meals are expected to be provided at Hy-Vee’s more than 265 Hy-Vee stores across its eight-state region.

 

MONMOUTH, ILLINOIS (November 7, 2019) — Monmouth College art professor Janis Wunderlich picked up the pieces — literally and figuratively — and the result was her first-ever ceramics work judged Best of Show.

 

DAVENPORT, IOWA (November 6, 2019) — Festival of Trees is in its 34th year as the annual fundraiser for Quad City Arts and as the unofficial kick-off to the holiday season. Over 30,000 people experience this 10-day event each year and an additional 45,000 watch the Holiday Parade, making this event one of the largest attractions in the Quad Cities.
