DES MOINES, IOWA (July 25, 2019) — Governor Kim Reynolds is encouraging Iowans eligible for the Last-Dollar Scholarship to apply for the program by the August 1 deadline. The Future Ready Iowa Last-Dollar Scholarship is available to new high-school graduates and adult learners who enroll in a scholarship-eligible program. The $13 million scholarship program covers tuition for credentials up to a two-year degree in programs leading to a high-demand job.

For the past week there have been ongoing discussions between congressional leadership and the Administration relating to an agreement on budget caps and raising the debt limit. Those discussions produced an agreement that was announced Monday night.

WASHINGTON DC (July 25, 2019) — Senators Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) are seeking information from Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials on the use of solitary confinement following recent allegations of misuse. In a letter today to Acting ICE Director Matthew Albence, the Senators note recent inspector general reports that highlighted deficiencies by some ICE field offices in properly reporting and documenting the use of solitary confinement.

MANKATO, MINNESOTA (July 25, 2019) — The Academic High Honor and Honor lists (Dean's lists) for the past spring semester at Minnesota State University, Mankato have been announced by Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Marilyn Wells.  Among 3,140 students, a total of 829 students qualified for the High Honor List by achieving a 4.0 straight "A" average, while 2,311 students earned a 3.5 to 3.99 average to qualify for the Honor List.
