IOWA CITY, IOWA (March 26, 2019) — More than 1,700 current University of Iowa students collaborated to raise almost $3 million in financial support for the UI Stead Family Children's Hospital as participants in the 25th annual UI Dance Marathon.

During the February 1-2 event at the Iowa Memorial Union, student participants unveiled the total of $2,960,403.25, which supports pediatric-oncology patients and their families at the hospital and advances cancer research.

MUSCATINE, IOWA (March 26, 2019) — Beginning in March 2019, Gilda’s Club Quad Cities launched an 8-Week Mind, Body, Spirit Challenge to help people diagnosed with cancer, including those undergoing treatment and caregivers, to improve quality of life by better managing the stress of diagnosis and treatment.

 

MUSCATINE, IOWA (March 26, 2019) — The Muscatine Art Center is piloting a new middle school outreach program thanks to a grant from the State Historical Society of Iowa’s Historic Resource Development Program (HRDP). Actors portraying Daniel and Sarah Parvin will bring to life the experiences of a Muscatine Civil War soldier. The Muscatine Art Center houses 117 letters written by Daniel Parvin while he served in the Iowa 11th Volunteer Regiment.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (March 15, 2019) — Chiropractic students at Palmer College of Chiropractic will now have another opportunity to enhance their hands-on learning experience. Palmer College of Chiropractic has entered into an affiliation agreement to establish a preceptorship program with the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) Department of Neurosurgery. This preceptorship program will enhance patient care, education and research opportunities for both institutions.

SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS (March 26, 2019) — Today, the Illinois Chamber of Commerce joined state and regional business organizations across the country in sending an open letter to governors and state lawmakers urging them to carefully consider privacy laws that will protect consumer privacy and support businesses. The group specifically asked Illinois state officials to avoid modeling privacy laws after the overreaching and misguided legislation that California passed last year.
