DAVENPORT IA (January 31, 2019) — As the day gets underway, please be advised that Public Works has posted an update to the City website. Here are a few highlights:

Subzero temperatures are expected to last through the evening, and snow is also likely beginning around noon today, Thursday, January 31. Road conditions could be slick. An inch or more of snow is predicted to fall between 11AM and 11PM. Crews will respond by clearing Posted Snow Routes when the snow starts to fly.

TUSCALOOSA, ALABAMA (January 30, 2019) — A total of 12,332 students enrolled during the 2018 fall term at The University of Alabama were named to the Dean's List with an academic record of 3.5 or above or the President's List with an academic record of 4.0 (all A's).

WASHINGTON DC (January 30, 2019) — US Sen Charles "Chuck" Grassley of Iowa issued the following statement regarding the recent 9-2 decision by the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit affecting Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans. Yesterday’s appellate decision overturns past court opinions, ruling that Congress never intended to exclude service members who served in the seas around Vietnam from receiving the presumption that their illnesses were connected to Agent Orange exposure.

DES MOINES, IOWA (January 30, 2019) — After completing public interviews of all 19 applicants, the State Judicial Nominating Commission has selected a slate of three nominees to fill the vacancy on the Iowa Supreme Court that occurred upon Justice Daryl Hecht’s retirement December 13, 2018.
