WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Dave Loebsack (D-IA) announced today that the Davenport Fire Department received a $612,369 grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as part of their Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program. The Davenport Fire Department will use these funds to purchase self-contained breathing apparatus units, which are approaching the end of its useful life.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 6, 2018 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced today that a group of Cooperative Extension partners will have the opportunity to apply for grants from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to help communities combat opioid use disorders. HHS intends to build on successful 2017 and 2018 National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) Rural Health and Safety Education projects that focus on opioid abuse.

Continuing rain pushed the projected crest of the Mississippi River up to 16.4 FT on Tuesday, September 11.  The current river level is 13.95 FT, and expected to reach 15 FT by Friday, September 7.

Little new or noticeable impacts or flood measures will be implemented until the river level exceeds 15 FT.
