IDOT hosts kickoff event to construction season at Jane Byrne Interchange

CHICAGO (Apr. 10, 2018) — Governor Bruce Rauner joined state and federal transportation officials today to kick off National Work Zone Awareness Week in Illinois. He’s urging drivers to slow down and give workers adequate space as construction season ramps up.

The Richardson-Sloane Special Collections Center at Main is pleased to present a variety of events during Preservation Week (April 22 – 28) that focus on family history!

Speakers include scientists in zoology, conservation, veterinarian medicine, ecology and animal behavior.

COAL VALLEY, Ill. (April 10, 2018) – Niabi Zoo continues the first-of-its-kind adult education program – the Conservation and Science Speaker Series. The series of presentations covers topics on conservation, ecology, biology and zoology. The next talks will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on April 17 and May 16 at the Niabi Zoo educational center.

DAVENPORT, Iowa – On April 9, 2018, United States District Court Judge Rebecca Goodgame Ebinger sentenced Jason David Chaney, age 31, of Galesburg, Illinois, to 240 months in prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, announced United States Attorney Marc Krickbaum. Chaney was ordered to serve five years of supervised release following his term of imprisonment and pay $100 to the Crime Victims’ Fund.

At 3pm on Sunday, April 22nd, St. Mark Lutheran Church will host flutist Lisa Crews and organist/pianist Ross Jallo for a recital of spring-themed music.  April 22nd is both Earth Day and Good Shepherd Sunday, and by that time there should be pleasant spring weather: the program will weave together all three elements.  Selections will include works by Vivaldi, Chopin, Bach, and many others.  All music-lovers are welcome at this free recital.

The first annual Power of Wo is an awareness-raising musical event that both celebrates women in the musical arts in the Eastern Iowa/ Western Illinois area of the Quad Cities region and supports local women in need. Not only does this event spotlight local women artists and musicians, but it serves to provide women in need with feminine hygiene products and basic items of necessity.

DES MOINES – Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate will host a two-day College Voter Engagement Summit this Friday and Saturday at the State Capitol to help prepare students for the 2018 elections and identify best practices for non-partisan voter registration drives on campus.
