The City of Rock Island is accepting applications from local non-profit agencies for the 2018 Gaming Grant Program. Gaming Grant funds are intended to enhance public service activities that benefit the Rock Island community. Not-for-profit public service agencies that serve Rock Island citizens are eligible to apply.

Far across the Atlantic, west of the Cabo Verde Islands, Irma strengthened into a Category 3 hurricane Thursday afternoon. Irma became a tropical storm at midday on Wednesday.

(Albany, NH, September 1, 2017) – U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue today administered the oath of office to Tony Tooke, who became the 18th Chief of the U.S. Forest Service, in a ceremony at White Mountain National Forest. Tooke has worked for the Forest Service since age 18 – with 37 total years of service – and until today was the Regional Forester for the Southern Region.
