City of Davenport will observe Labor Day as a holiday on Monday, September 4th 2017. City of Davenport offices & the Public Works Center will be closed. Police Department front desk and records office will be closed. Parks and Recreation administrative offices will be closed. Library Main, Fairmount and Eastern branches will be closed. Vander Veer Conservatory will be closed. CitiBus service will not be provided. Compost Facility will be closed.

The City of Davenport Police Department will be conducting precision driving training at Credit Island Park on six different dates this fall. This training allows Davenport Officers to prepare for driving in emergency situations.

Credit Island Park will be closed from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM on the scheduled training dates. Limited bike path access will be available for those utilizing the bike path through Credit Island as it connects to the trail system.

DAVENPORT, IA – On August 30, 2017, Paris Hollingshed, 37, of Davenport, Iowa, was sentenced by Chief United States District Court Judge John A. Jarvey to 120 months in prison for felon in possession of a firearm, announced United States Attorney Kevin E. VanderSchel. Hollingshed will serve three years of supervised release following his imprisonment. Hollingshed was found guilty of this charge after a three-day jury trial on March 3, 2017.

DAVENPORT, IA - On August 30, 2017, Romance Desuave Armstrong, 29, of Davenport, Iowa, was sentenced by Chief United States District Court Judge John A. Jarvey to 84 months in prison for felon in possession of a firearm, announced United States Attorney Kevin E. VanderSchel. Armstrong will serve three years of supervised release following his imprisonment and pay $100 to the Crime Victims’ Fund.

With less than 48 hours remaining, I call on all farmers to submit comments to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on the proposed Renewable Volume Obligations (RVO) for the 2018. While the proposed RVO has corn-based ethanol at the level intended by Congress, it would lower the cellulosic and advanced volumes. These reductions equate to a 73-million-gallon reduction for cellulosic and a 40-million-gallon reduction for total renewable fuel when compared to 2017.

Rock Island, IL: The Rock Island Public Library's Downtown location, 401 19th Street, will be closed Saturday, Sept. 2 due to the Rock Island Grand Prix cart races. The 30/31 Library, 3059 30th Street, and Southwest Library, 9010 Ridgewood Road, will be open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday.
