(July 27, 2017) - The 18th annual Iowa Sales Tax Holiday will be held Friday and Saturday, August 4 and 5, 2017. Qualifying clothing or footwear with a selling price of less than $100 will be exempt from sales and local option tax.

Burlington, Iowa artist, James Walker Henry, will open an exhibition in the Musser House gallery at the Muscatine Art Center on August 13, 2017. For the last thirty-five years, Henry has created over five hundred surreal works of art that address social and political issues. He explores current events and ideas through paint and brush. He was first introduced to surrealist artists and the style of surrealism while taking art history courses.

To kick off the 46th Annual Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Jazz Festival, the Putnam Museum and the Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Society have partnered  to present a FREE jazz concert featuring the Fat Babies. During the concert, the Putnam's national treasure -Bix Beiderbecke's iconic cornet- will be played by band member Andy Schumm.

Rock Island, IL: Teens have long been able to get their game on with video and board gaming programs at the Rock Island Library, and now it's game on for adults and families as well. Starting in August, the library will start monthly board game nights for families on the first Tuesday of each month and retro gaming for adults on the second Thursday, both at the Downtown Library.
