Gov. Rauner signs bill, extending tax credit program to preserve historic buildings and revitalize economies in five communities

AURORA (Aug. 18, 2017) – Gov. Bruce Rauner today signed Senate Bill 1783, bipartisan legislation that extends the River Edge Redevelopment Zone tax credit program. The tax credit program has helped preserve historic buildings and grow local economies in the five communities where the credit is applicable: Aurora, East St. Louis, Elgin, Peoria and Rockford.

Iowa employer unemployment insurance taxes to decrease in 2018

(DES MOINES) – Beginning January 1, Iowa employers will see unemployment insurance taxes decrease an average of 25% on 2018 wages. The decrease is a result of the strength of the unemployment insurance trust fund, unemployment contributory wages and target levels of the unemployment insurance contributory wages. Yearly rates are determined by a formula.

Economic Development Board approves awards to support over $48 million in capital investment in Iowa

August 18, 2017 (DES MOINES, IA) – Today, the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) board awarded direct financial assistance and tax benefits to five companies for job creation and expansion projects. These awards will assist in the creation of 62 jobs and will result in over $48 million in new capital investment for the state.  The board also approved awards for strategic infrastructure, entrepreneurial assistance and a reinvestment district project.

No More Glasses Available at Libraries

Rock Island Libraries distributed nearly 900 pairs of glasses to our customers in late July and early August. ALL of those glasses are now gone.

The situation is the same at all other local libraries who had free glasses to distribute.
