SPRINGFIELD (June 19, 2017) - Missouri State University conferred 2,651 degrees to students at its 2017 spring commencement May 19 at JQH Arena.  A total of 1,995 bachelor's degrees, 554 master's degrees, 93 doctorate degrees and nine specialist degrees were conferred.

Among those recognized were  Megan Nickles of Bettendorf, Iowa, with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders

WASHINGTON, D.C., June 19, 2017 -- USDA and partners committed $20 million in 21st Century Conservation Service Corps partnership agreements to provide 4,000 work opportunities for youth, young adults and veterans up to 35 years old, a move that will help the U.S. Forest Service accomplish mission-critical infrastructure and landscape restoration projects on the ground. The U.S. Forest Service is one of seventeen USDA Agencies.

Madison, WI - A new type of insurance is available in Iowa these days. If someone becomes laid off or will be disabled and unable to work for more than 30 days, it pays something called a lump sum benefit-all the money gets paid as soon as a claim is approved. It's from SafetyNet(tm), a wholly owned division of Madison, WI based CUNA Mutual Group. They report that the new product is rapidly gaining customers across the state.

AMES, IA (06/16/2017)-- The Iowa State University College of Liberal Arts and Sciences' Dean's List honors students who were enrolled in 12 credit hours and earned a 3.5 grade point average for the term.

To assist residents with cleanup efforts following last week's storm, the City is waiving the yard waste sticker requirement for all yard wastes placed for collection the week of June 19th through June 23rd. Yard wastes must still be placed in a Kraft-ply bag for collection.
