Description of Closure: The road was closed for a culvert replacement project over a Tributary to the Wapsipinicon River.  This project has been substantially completed and the road is open to traffic.

Rock Island, IL: With the conclusion of wiring repairs at the Rock Island Public Library 30/31 Branch, 3059 30th Street, the branch will reopen Saturday, April 22. Regular Saturday hours at the branch are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The Tuesday Toddler Tales story time at 30/31 Branch will be held as scheduled at 10:30 am on Tuesday, April 25. The event is for ages birth to five, and includes stories, songs and activities about trees, in observance of Earth Day.

Offense stays hot in 7-2 win over Burlington

BURLINGTON, Iowa – The Bandits offense stayed hot on Wednesday afternoon at Community Field in a 7-2 win over the Bees to finish off a three-game sweep. Spencer Johnson hit a solo home run as part of a three RBI day to lead the Quad Cities bats. Ryan Hartman pitched six innings and allowed just one run and six hits to pick up the win.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced new data indicating the organic industry continues to grow domestically and globally, with 24,650 certified organic operations in the United States, and 37,032 around the world.

The 2016 count of U.S. certified organic farms and businesses reflects a 13 percent increase between the end of 2015 and 2016, continuing the trend of double digit growth in the organic sector.

Confused by expiration or “best before” dates on food? More than 10 different date labels are currently used on food products, which makes it difficult to know if a food is safe to eat.

Those unclear labels are getting a makeover as grocery manufacturers and retailers have joined together to simplify the process. They are introducing standard phrases that will state either “best if used by” or “use by.” Here’s what you need to know about the new labels.
