MOLINE, IL – The Tin Woman by Sean Grennan opens at The Black Box Theatre on April 20th.

Based on a true story, The Tin Woman is the story of Joy, the recipient of the heart, unsure whether she deserves this extraordinary gift, as well as the donors parents Alice and Hank as they come to accept their son’s death.

Iowa State University Scott County Master Gardeners is presenting a “Pollinators’ Palooza” event May 20 & 21 in partnership with the Putnam Museum featuring fun and education for the entire family. Basically it’s free; however there is a charge to view the “Flight of the Butterflies” movie. The event will focus on the bees; butterflies and other insects that help flowering plants produce fruits, vegetables and nuts. Hands-on activities for the kids, plant sale, speakers and lots more.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — The Wartburg College Wind Ensemble will perform Monday, April 24, at 7:30 p.m., at Assumption High School, as part of its Midwest tour.

Cody Birely of Davenport plays percussion, and Mallory Weaver of Bettendorf plays clarinet in the ensemble. Free-will donations will be accepted at the door.

 On Thursday, April 20th Safer staff and volunteers will be out in full force delivering lunches to area businesses and organizations. It’s the 12th year for the annual event with the goal to sell 1,800 lunches. If you haven’t as yet placed your order there may still be time. CHICAGO – Governor Bruce Rauner today announced the next steps to comprehensive plan to combat hate crimes in Illinois through improved training of law enforcement.

As directed by the Governor last month, Illinois State Police worked with the Anti-Defamation League to create a new curriculum for Illinois State Police Cadets to better identify, investigate and prosecute hate crimes.

Based on the classic novel by Louis May Alcott, Little Women tells the story of headstrong Jo March who struggles with the expectations put on her as a young woman in Civil War-Era New England. Jo, a prolific writer, uses her stories to make sense of the world around her and redefine what it means to be an accomplished female.
