ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (February 12, 2024) — The Augustana Choir, under the direction of Dr Jon Hurty, will perform concerts in California March 21-25, followed by a home concert on April 6 in Davenport.

The 54-voice ensemble, known for its innovative programming, attention to detail, and musical excellence, will perform at five Southern California churches. The tour will include collaborations with choirs directed by Augustana alumni Brent Wilson and Jens Hurty, Dr Hurty’s son.

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA (February 12, 2024) — To kick off Women’s History Month, The African American Museum of Iowa (AAMI) has partnered with Kirkwood Community College to present seek first entertainment’s production of Black Women Walking. With two performances only, this theatrical production will be held at Kirkwood’s Ballantyne Auditorium on Saturday, March 2, 7:30PM, and Sunday, March 3, 3PM, both performances will feature a “talk back” moderated cast discussion.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (February 12, 2024) — Disney and Pixar’s Finding Nemo JR is playing at Davenport Junior Theatre from Saturday, February 17 through February 25 at 1PM and 4pm on Saturdays, and 3PM on Sundays. The charming sixty-minute musical is based on the beloved 2003 Pixar film Finding Nemo. The Junior Theatre cast includes 41 students onstage, eight running the booth and backstage, and seven front-of-house team members ages ten through eighteen.

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (February 12, 2024) — Augustana College will host the annual Shockingly Modern Saxophone Festival February 24. The event, featuring guest artist Kyle Hutchins of Virginia Tech, will be held at Bergendoff Hall, 3520 7th Ave, Rock Island, Illinois. All events are free and open to the public.

The festival also will feature performances from Augustana faculty and the Augustana College Saxophone Studio.

KENOSHA, WISCONSIN (February 12, 2024) — The following Carthage College students traveled during J-Term, a month-long period to explore subject areas. A Carthage tradition since the early 1970s, J-Term, or January Term, study tours allow students to experience new cultures and ideas without committing to a full semester abroad.
