DES MOINES, IOWA (August 29, 2023) — The Iowa Attorney General’s Office has completed its review of the fatal shooting of Matthew TJ Davis by two Franklin County Sheriff’s Office deputies that occurred on June 20, 2023. In a report issued August 28, the office concluded that the actions of the deputies, who shot Davis after he drunkenly aimed his gun at them, were “legally justified” and that “no criminal charges are warranted.”
