DES MOINES, IOWA (November 24, 2023) – On Thursday, November 23, Governor Kim Reynolds announced the signing of a disaste

DAVENPORT, IOWA (November 24, 2023) — Every single year, the Grammy nominations come out, and there are typically a few old homies that get a nod for something. But what more often tends to be the case is that all of the most deserving artists — the deserving ones that we here at the Raccoon Motel/Codfish Hollow/The Fox Den and in past lives through ten years of Daytrotter and other iterations see on a regular basis — tend to be snubbed in these year-end awards.

Monmouth College students who have pieces featured in the Juried Student Art Exhibition are joined by juror April Jackson of Galesburg, Illinois, left. The exhibit is open through December 6 in the College's Len G Everett Gallery, which is on the second floor of Hewes Library

MONMOUTH, ILLINOIS (November 21, 2023) — Monmouth College student Joshua Hinkle hopes his award-winning artwork will not only inspire those who view it but lead them to support change.

Jerry Akers, shown here at one of his Great Clips locations, is doing his best to give his employees shorter shifts and a more flexible schedule

DAVENPORT, IOWA (November 21, 2023) — Holiday giving started early for CASI with a hugely-successful fundraising campaign. In October, a pre-event fundraiser called Pass the Hat spearheaded by Chair Gwen Tombergs and Board Member Decker Ploehn kickstarted the momentum by raising $40,000. The Hat Bash event on November 16, with over 400 attendees, rounded out the campaign bringing the total raised to over $150,000.

Monmouth music faculty member Tom Clark brought a bit of holiday cheer to last year's "Christmas at Monmouth" concert, and he'll once again be on the stage December 2, leading the College's vocal groups

MONMOUTH, ILLINOIS (November 21, 2023) — The holiday spirit will be in abundance at Monmouth College in December, with three Christmas events scheduled in a five-day span.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (November 21, 2023) — The holiday season is the time of year when we think of those who are less fortunate. Most of our thoughts and donations go to organizations that support children, families and the homeless. But each year hundreds of Quad City area older adults go without meals, gifts, and companionship due to lack of family, friends, and financial resources.
