Local Students Named to University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Fall 2022 Dean's List

LINCOLN, NEBRASKA (February 6, 2023) — More than 6,900 University of Nebraska-Lincoln students have been named to the Deans' List for the fall semester of the 2022-23 academic year.

Following is a list of area honorees, listed by hometown. Some international students are listed under their adopted hometowns in the United States. Some students chose not to be listed.

Geneseo: Lauren Anne Plumley, senior, Dean's List, College of Engineering, mechanical engineering.

Monmouth College's Black History Month Activities Include Film Discussion, Men's Retreat, Entertainment

MONMOUTH, ILLINOIS (February 6, 2023) — Black History Month events at Monmouth College, sponsored by its Champion Miller Center for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, kicked off February 2 with the first of three film discussions.

Clips of the documentary Who We Are: The Chronicle of Race in America were shown and discussed at the Champion Miller Center, 727 E Broadway, and two other movie events will be held in the center from 7-9PM on February 9 and February 16.

Vibrant Arena Extends Quad City Storm's Lease through the 2025-2026 Season

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (February 6, 2023) — The Quad City Storm and Vibrant Arena have come to terms on an extension to the team’s lease agreement through the 2025-2026 season. The Storm played its inaugural season at Vibrant Arena, formerly the TaxSlayer Center, in 2018 and has since played every home game at the arena and hosted more than 275,000 fans.

Monmouth College Chapter of AXD Changes Philanthropy Focus to Foster Care, Homelessness

Gov Kim Reynolds Appoints Patrick McAvan as District Associate Judge

DES MOINES, IOWA (February 6, 2023) — On Friday, February 3, Governor Kim Reynolds today announced her appointment of Patrick McAvan as a district associate judge in Judicial Election District 8A.

McAvan, of Fairfield, Iowa, currently serves as an Assistant Jefferson County Attorney. He received his undergraduate degree from Loras College and his law degree from the University of Kansas School of Law.

QC Storm Play Peoria Rivermen 02/03-04, Vermilion County Bobcats 02/05

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (February 3, 2023) — The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) announced three opponent changes for this weekend’s games. The Quad City Storm will play the Peoria Rivermen tonight and tomorrow night at Vibrant Arena. The Storm was previously scheduled to play the Vermilion County Bobcats.

Additionally, the Storm will travel to Danville, Illinois on Sunday to take on the Vermilion County Bobcats. The Bobcats were previously scheduled to play the Peoria Rivermen.
