Scammers have become more sophisticated, using technology and tailoring scams to each generation. We'll have professionals online and in person to help you stay aware and prepare.

This hybrid program will be offered simultaneously in person at Eastern Library and online via Zoom.

DES MOINES, IOWA (April 20, 2022) — Tobacco companies involved in the 1998 landmark settlement have transferred about $53.2 million to the state treasury for this year's payment.

In the last 24 years, Iowa has received $1.41 billion in payments under the settlement. The state will continue to receive annual Master Settlement Agreement payments in perpetuity, based on the number of cigarettes sold in the United States. The MSA is the largest settlement in US history.

BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS (April 19, 2022) — Anania Williams from Davenport, Iowa (52803), participated in Emerson Stage's production of Into the Woods. The musical follows the story of fairytales, misfortunes, and the consequences of decisions. The show was performed in the Emerson Cutler Majestic Theater on April 14 and 16.

Williams is majoring in Musical Theatre and is a member of the Class of 2022.

DES MOINES, IOWA (April 19, 2022) — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate is partnering with the Iowa Wild hockey team to promote being #VoterReady ahead of the June 7 primary election and help fans register to vote during the games on Friday, April 22, and Saturday, April 23, in Des Moines.

Staff from the Secretary of State’s Office will be on hand to help register fans to vote and answer questions about upcoming elections. Sec Pate will be dropping the puck ahead Friday’s game.

The College has already passed the $75 million goal of its Light This Candle Campaign, exceeding that figure 8 1/2 months ahead of the Campaign's final day.

BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA (April 19, 2022) — Alexandra Caijgal of Davenport, Iowa, was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most-selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Caijgal was initiated at United States Military Academy.
