Davenport Public Library Celebrates Native American Heritage Month

DAVENPORT, IOWA (November 11, 2022) — In partnership with the Davenport Civil Rights Commission, The Library is hosting "We Are Still Here — An Indigenous Journey" at the Fairmount branch on Wednesday, November 16, 6:30PM.

The presenters will share strands of our past, present, and hopes as Indigenous peoples woven with Native American drumming and storytelling.

This program is intended for adults.

Des Moines and Warren Counties Conclude Recounts, Unofficial Election Results Updated

DES MOINES, IOWA (November 11, 2022) — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate announces the administrative recounts he requested for Des Moines and Warren counties were completed on Thursday and Iowa’s unofficial election results have been updated. Both counties experienced issues with reporting complete results on election night.

There were approximately 2,000 uncounted ballots in Warren County and approximately 800 in Des Moines County.

Iowa Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO: Railroad Denies Veterans Time Off as Required Under Iowa Law

In order to honor prior armed-service members, Iowa passed a law requiring Veteran employees’ time-off requests in advance for this day. The law allows companies to cancel this arrangement, with ten days’ notice under certain circumstances.

The production will air on WQPT on November 17, 8PM, and will be followed by a short documentary on the Anne Frank Exhibit in Danville, Iowa.
