AMES, IOWA (January 8, 2025) — Don’t miss the 2025 Winter Iowa Games presented by Grinnell Mutual. This year marks the 34th year of the annual winter sports festival. Sports and events are available for athletes of all ages and abilities.

The 2025 Winter Iowa Games will hold competitions in sixteen sports in Dubuque, Iowa City, Cedar Rapids and eight other Iowa communities throughout the next three months.

ALPINE SKI RACING

BETTENDORF, IOWA (January 8, 2025) — On December 18, 2024, the Senate passed legislation including authorization for the ONSHORE Act (Opportunities for Non-developed Sites to Have Opportunities to be Rehabilitated for Economic Development). The bill establishes the Critical Supply Chain Site Development program, which, once funded, will provide competitive grants to communities like the Quad Cities to invest in new shovel-ready sites.

WEST DES MOINES, IOWA (January 8, 2025) — Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences and Drake University have expanded their partnership to offer more students in the Des Moines metro access to medical and health sciences education. Previously, the partnership included opportunities to earn credits toward concurrent degrees.

DES MOINES, IOWA (January 8, 2025) — The Iowa Bicycle Coalition is hosting this year’s BIke Banquet on January 25 at the Iowa Events Center. The event will celebrate the power of cycling and highlight Iowa’s robust cycling community. Olympic cyclist Nelson Vails, the first African American to win an Olympic medal in the sport, will be joining the coalition as the event’s keynote speaker.
