DES MOINES, IOWA (October 26, 2020) Governor Kim Reynolds and the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) has announced the launch of the new Iowa County Fairs Relief Program. The program will provide short-term relief to eligible county and district fairs for the purpose of continuing or resuming operations in the context of the public health emergency.

DES MOINES, IOWA (October 23, 2020) Due to Iowa's economic recovery, the US Department of Labor has notified Iowa that it has "triggered off" of the unemployment Extended Benefits (EB) program, making Iowans no longer eligible for the program. This means Iowa's insured unemployment rate has averaged below 5% for the last 13 weeks.

DES MOINES, IOWA (October 22, 2020)  The number of initial claims in Iowa, filed between Sunday, October 11, and Saturday, October 17, was 4,662. There were 4,019 initial claims by individuals who work and live in Iowa, and 643 claims by individuals who work in Iowa and live in another state. The number of continuing weekly unemployment claims was 41,967, a decrease of 4,442 from the previous week.

DES MOINES, IOWA (October 22, 2020) — A Scott County judge has ordered a Quad Cities-based telemarketing operation to pay a judgment of more than $820,000 for defrauding small-business owners in at least 13 states.

District Judge Mark Fowler found in the ruling that Misty Barnes, Paul Michael Barnes, and their businesses had committed 19 violations of the Iowa Consumer Fraud Act.
