Bernie Sanders, Joe Rogan, Human Rights Campaign, and Truth in Advertising

On January 20, comedian and podcast host Joe Rogan mentioned that he'll "probably vote for Bernie" Sanders in the Democratic Party's presidential primary. Rogan cited Sanders's decades of "consistency" as a "very powerful structure to operate from." More interesting than Rogan's quasi-endorsement was the Human Rights Campaign's negative response. The organization called on Sanders to "reconsider" his acceptance of Rogan's support. What's the organization's problem with Rogan?

Central College Students Named to Dean's List for Fall 2019

PELLA, IOWA (January 24, 2020) — More than 350 students were named to the Central College dean's list for Fall 2019.

The honor is awarded to full-time students who achieve a 3.5 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale while taking 12 or more graded credit hours for the semester.

Treasurer Fitzgerald's Invest in Iowa Auction Deposits Over $71 Million in Iowa's Financial Institutions

DES MOINES, IOWA (January 24, 2020) — State Treasurer Michael Fitzgerald announces the results of his most recent Invest in Iowa online auction; over $71 million will be deposited in 24 financial institutions across the state as a result of the January 14 auction. The state will receive an average rate of return of 1.70% on these six-month certificates of deposit (CDs). "This program is a win-win for Iowa," said Fitzgerald.

Iowa’s Unemployment Rate Increases Slightly to 2.7 Percent

DES MOINES, IOWA (January 24, 2020) — Iowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased slightly to 2.7 percent in December. The state’s jobless rate was 2.4 percent one year ago. The U.S. unemployment rate remained at 3.5 percent in December.

Aurora University Announces Fall 2019 Dean's List

AURORA, ILLINOIS (January 24, 2020) — Aurora University congratulates the more than 1,300 undergraduate students who earned Dean's List honors for the fall 2019 semester. The Dean's List recognizes students who have earned a 3.6 GPA or higher. Students recognized with high honors (*) have earned a perfect 4.0. Students included on the Dean's List completed a minimum of 12 semester hours for a letter grade in the term.
