DES MOINES, IOWA (December 9, 2019) — The Bureau of Justice Assistance awarded the Iowa Judicial Branch a three-year, $500,000 grant to establish uniform standards for Iowa’s adult problem-solving courts and to implement a long-term strategy to create a statewide system of support and accountability. Implementation of the strategy began with the recent hiring of a Statewide Problem Solving Court Coordinator.

PELLA, IOWA (December 9, 2019) — 50 Central College students will perform as part of the A Cappella Choir in the 45th annual Christmas Candlelight Concerts. The A Cappella Choir will perform at 7:30PM, Thursday, December 12, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Des Moines. The group then will join the Chamber Singers, Orchestra and Handbells for performances at 8PM, Friday, December 13, and Saturday, December 14, on the Hoekstra Family Stage in historic Douwstra Auditorium.

I don't keep count, but I see lots of headlines like this one from The Hill, dated December 5: "Congress races to beat deadline on shutdown." Reporters Jordain Carney and Niv Elis tell us that "Congress is racing the clock" and working on a "tight time frame" to pass yet another stopgap spending measure ("continuing resolution") so that the government doesn't go into one of its perennial fake "shutdown" productions.
