MOLINE, IL - Formed to develop Moline's western downtown gateway, West Gateway Partners L.L.C. with support from Group O, Inc. opened Mercado on Fifth, an open-air night market in the Floreciente neighborhood in downtown Moline, IL.

Mercado on Fifth opened in August and has featured live music, entertainment, food and unique vendors each Friday evening from 5 – 9 p.m. The final market of the season will be held this week on Friday, October 28 with a Night of the Dead celebration just in time for Halloween.  Highlights include:

  • Live music by The Crooked Cactus Band from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. with an opening set from Nalani Proctor – don’t forget to bring your lawn chair!
  • Vendor booths with local businesses selling unique items including Day of the Dead bread
  • Traditional Day of the Dead Catrina dolls and alters on display
  • Candy skulls
  • Face painting
  • Costume attire encouraged

Mercado on Fifth, located at 5th Avenue & 11th Street in Moline. Admission is free!

West Gateway Partners L.L.C., led by Bob Ontiveros, has made a significant impact to the Floreciente neighborhood with the successful development of the Community Health Center, Familia Dental Clinic and the Boys & Girls Club Teen Center.   Growing up in Moline’s Floreciente neighborhood himself, Mr. Ontiveros has been the driving force behind the development.
