Bill to restore congressional scrutiny of expensive regulations reintroduced

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yesterday, U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), along with Senators Todd Young (R-IN), Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Joni Ernst (R-IA), and 23 other cosponsors, reintroduced the “Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny” (REINS) Act as one of the first bills filed in the 115th Congress (S. 21).

State seeks damages on behalf of taxpayers

Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP has released an audit report on Scott County, Iowa. The County had local tax revenue of $265,610,396 for the year ended June 30, 2016, which included $23,169,606 in tax credits from the state. The County forwarded $242,440,790 of the local tax revenue to the townships, school districts, cities and other taxing bodies in the County.
