Illinois Chamber of Commerce Responds to Omnibus Energy Proposal

SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS (September 1, 2021) — The Illinois Chamber of Commerce is currently opposed to the existing comprehensive energy policy proposals pending before the General Assembly. We encourage the discussion to continue in an effort to find the right balance between the interests of rate-payers and those who produce energy.

Unemployment Insurance Tax Rate Table for Iowa Employers Remains the Same for 2022

DES MOINES, IOWA (August 31, 2021) — Governor Kim Reynolds has announced that unemployment insurance tax-rates for Iowa employers will remain unchanged for 2022. For the fifth consecutive year, the tax-rates used to fund unemployment benefits will be the second-lowest allowed by law.

Iowa’s Unemployment Rate Increases to 4.1 Percent in July; Labor Participation Continues to Rise

DES MOINES, IOWA (August 20, 2021) — Iowa’s unemployment rate rose slightly to 4.1 percent in July 2021 from 4.0 percent in June 2021. The state’s jobless rate was 6.1 percent one year ago. The total number of working Iowans increased to 1,593,600 in July of 2021, which is 55,400 higher than July 2020 and 5,700 more than June of 2021.

Iowa’s Unemployment Rate Increases Slightly to 4.0 Percent in June, More Iowans Enter the Labor Force

The report measures member expectations for sales, capital spending and employment for the next six months. If the index measures above fifty, sentiment is positive. The second-quarter survey's overall economic outlook index is 67.08.

United Way Quad Cities Announces Deere’s Mara Downing as New Board Chair

BETTENDORF, IOWA (July 8, 2021) — United Way Quad Cities has named Mara Downing, vice president of global brand and communications, John Deere, as its new Board of Directors chair.

A native of the Quad Cities, Downing has served on the board since 2018, and, as a 2020 Community Campaign Tri-Chair, helped raise $7,133,520, which surpassed the 2019 total.
