Iowans’ Unemployment and Injury Benefits Increase

DES MOINES, IOWA (July 1, 2021) — Iowa Workforce Development has announced there will be an increase to the amount of maximum weekly benefits paid to unemployed Iowans and to workers injured on the job beginning July 4, 2021. A statutorily-required annual review of wages covered by unemployment insurance has triggered the increase. The average annual wage for insured Iowa workers increased to $52,130.71 in 2020, up from $48,455.86 in 2019.

Four Iowa Credit Unions Awarded $1.826 Million Each in Federal Grant Funding to Support Economic Recovery

DES MOINES, IOWA (June 18, 2021) — Four Iowa credit unions designated as Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) received $1.826 million respectively from the US Department of Treasury through the Treasury’s CDFI Rapid Response Program (CDFI RRP). The funding provides capital for CDFIs to respond to economic challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in underserved communities.

Unemployment Rates Down, Jobs Up for Every Metro Area Compared to Last April

SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS (May 28, 2021) — The number of non-farm jobs increased over-the-year in all fourteen Illinois metropolitan areas in April, according to preliminary data released today by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES). The unemployment rate decreased over-the-year in all metro areas.
