BETTENDORF, IOWA (November 6, 2020)  The Ascentra Credit Union Scholarship Competition is underway for the 2020-2021 school year. A total of $10,000 in scholarships will be awarded to ten Ascentra members to help offset the costs of attending a college or university or even trade school. DES MOINES, IOWA (October 26, 2020) Thousands of students across Iowa will cast ballots for their preferred presidential and congressional candidates in the upcoming Iowa Youth Straw Poll. On Tuesday, October 27, one week before Election Day, Secretary of State Paul Pate will poll students on their preferred choices. More than 250 schools have registered to participate so far.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (October 26, 2020) The Downtown Davenport Partnership (DDP), an affiliate of the Quad Cities Chamber, will present a proposed strategic master plan to the Davenport City Council during a public work session at 4PM, Tuesday, October 27. After reviewing the draft master-plan documents, the plan will be added to upcoming city-council agendas for further public input.

DES MOINES, IOWA (October 23, 2020) Due to Iowa's economic recovery, the US Department of Labor has notified Iowa that it has "triggered off" of the unemployment Extended Benefits (EB) program, making Iowans no longer eligible for the program. This means Iowa's insured unemployment rate has averaged below 5% for the last 13 weeks. 

DES MOINES, IOWA (October 22, 2020)  The number of initial claims in Iowa, filed between Sunday, October 11, and Saturday, October 17, was 4,662. There were 4,019 initial claims by individuals who work and live in Iowa, and 643 claims by individuals who work in Iowa and live in another state. The number of continuing weekly unemployment claims was 41,967, a decrease of 4,442 from the previous week.
