WASHINGTON DC (December 6, 2019) — US Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue released the following statement regarding the latest jobs report released today by the US Department of Labor (DOL). The jobs report shows the economy added 266,000 new jobs in November with an unemployment rate of 3.5%, which remains at a record 50-year low.

DES MOINES, IOWA (December 3, 2019) — Today, Governor Kim Reynolds announced 22 recipients of the Employer Innovation Fund, a matching grant that helps employers provide postsecondary training and education opportunities for their employees. The second round of Employer Innovation Fund Grants will distribute $568,000 to employers and employer consortiums across the state. A third-round application period with $244,200 in remaining funds will open December 3 and close December 17.

WASHINGTON DC (November 22, 2019) — The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)'s regulations to prohibit the manufacture (including import), processing, and distribution of methylene chloride in all paint-removers for consumer use will go into effect after November 22, 2019. Starting tomorrow, it will be unlawful for any person or retailer to sell or distribute paint-removal products containing methylene chloride for consumer use, including e-commerce sales.

DES MOINES, IOWA (November 20, 2019) — More than 200 delegates from the Iowa Association of School Board's (IASB) member school boards and area education agency (AEA) boards gathered at Delegate Assembly on November 20 to conduct the annual meeting, elect the IASB Board President-elect, and set the platform for the 2020 legislative session. 

Delegates approved four legislative priorities and elected IASB AEA Representative Elizabeth Brennan as the IASB Board President-elect.
