SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS (January 30, 2020) — The unemployment rate decreased over-the-year in December in all fourteen Illinois metropolitan areas, according to preliminary data released today by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES). Data also shows the number of nonfarm jobs increased in ten Illinois metropolitan areas, decreased in three, and was unchanged in one.

DES MOINES, IOWA (January 27, 2020) — With tax-filing season upon us, the Iowa Department of Revenue is reminding Iowans of the many resources available and recent changes at the Department that can assist taxpayers with filing their tax return.

The Department will begin processing returns at the same time as the IRS on January 27. This is because Iowa tax-payers are required to provide their federal return with their Iowa return. Iowa income-tax returns are due on April 30.

DES MOINES, IOWA (January 24, 2020) — Iowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased slightly to 2.7 percent in December. The state’s jobless rate was 2.4 percent one year ago. The U.S. unemployment rate remained at 3.5 percent in December.
