The Cost of Higher Education Doesn't Need to Be Scary

DES MOINES, IOWA (October 21, 2019) — October is meant to be the scariest month of the year, but State Treasurer Michael L Fitzgerald wants to make sure paying for higher education is not something to be spooked about. "Families already have enough stress and anxiety in their lives and figuring out how they're going to afford higher education for their kids and grandkids shouldn't be one of those," Fitzgerald said.

Iowa’s Unemployment Rate Holds Steady at 2.5 Percent

DES MOINES, IOWA (October 19, 2019) — Iowa’s seasonally-adjusted unemployment-rate remained at 2.5 percent in September. The state’s jobless rate was 2.4 percent one year ago. The US unemployment rate fell to 3.5 percent in September.

IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union (IHMVCU) Hosts Free Community Shred Day on October 26

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (October 18, 2019) — IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union (IHMVCU) is hosting a free, open-to-the-public Community Shred Day on Saturday, October 26, 9AM–12PM at its headquarters, 2500 River Drive in Moline.

Quad Citians are invited to bring personal documents, up to three boxes, for secure, onsite shredding. A mobile shred unit will be on hand to destroy documents on site. Items with staples and paperclips can also be shredded.
