DES MOINES, IOWA (April 1, 2019) — In the Iowa Business Council (IBC) quarterly economic outlook survey, members express economic optimism but challenges remain in attracting and retaining a quality workforce. This has been a consistent theme throughout the past year for IBC members, with nearly 70 percent of IBC members citing either engineering, IT, or health=care as key job positions they are unable or struggling to fill within the state.  

WASHINGTON DC (March 29, 2019) — To mark Equal Pay Day (April 2), the day that symbolizes how women, on average, have to work around three months longer to earn what men did the previous year, the American Association of University Women (AAUW) has launched a multi-pronged effort to close the pay gap by 2030.

SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS (March 26, 2019) — Today, the Illinois Chamber of Commerce joined state and regional business organizations across the country in sending an open letter to governors and state lawmakers urging them to carefully consider privacy laws that will protect consumer privacy and support businesses. The group specifically asked Illinois state officials to avoid modeling privacy laws after the overreaching and misguided legislation that California passed last year.

DES MOINES, IOWA (March 22, 2019) — Iowa’s seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate remained at 2.4 percent in February. The state’s jobless rate was 2.7 percent one year ago. The US unemployment rate dropped to 3.8 percent in February.
