State Treasurer Michael Fitzgerald Announces Millions Earned on State of Iowa's Investments

DES MOINES, IOWA (August 2, 2019) — State Treasurer Michael Fitzgerald announced record earnings for fiscal year 2019 (July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019). "Iowa earned over $56 million in its investment pool, the largest amount in over a decade," Fitzgerald said. "Increased interest income reduces the tax burden, and that is great news for Iowa taxpayers."

Iowa Biodiesel Board Implores EPA to Raise Biodiesel Gallons Under RFS

ANKENY, IOWA (July 31, 2019) — The chair of the Iowa Biodiesel Board and a farmer leader from the Iowa Soybean Association today requested the Environmental Protection Agency reconsider its proposed requirements for biodiesel under the federal Renewable Fuel Standard. Testifying at an EPA hearing in Ypsilanti, Michigan, IBB joined the National Biodiesel Board and its members in asking EPA to increase the 2021 Biomass-based Diesel volume by 330 million gallons, to 2.76 billion gallons.

Iowa Workforce Development immediately began an investigation on the day the business closed its doors, July 12, 2019, as it had not received a WARN notice, as required. That investigation is ongoing pursuant to Iowa Code §84C.
