DES MOINES, IOWA (May 10, 2019) — In response to Governor Reynolds' recent disaster declarations for five additional Iowa counties — Clinton, Louisa, Muscatine, Scott, and Wapello — the Iowa Department of Revenue has granted an extension and suspension of any penalty or interest for taxpayers whose principal residence or business is located in these counties.

DES MOINES, IOWA (May 9, 2019) — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate announces Iowans set a record for most new business-filings in a single month during April 2019. Sec Pate’s Business Services Division processed 2,326 filings for new businesses in April. The previous one-month record was 2,204, set in March of 2018.

DES MOINES, IOWA (May 7, 2019) — State Treasurer Michael Fitzgerald announced on May 7, 2019, the State refinanced a portion of Iowa's IJOBS bonds in order to save the State money. The State sold new bonds and used the proceeds to pay off the bonds that were issued in 2009. The borrowing-rate came in at 2.64%, nearly 2% less than the original bonds.
