STORM LAKE, IA (04/05/2017)-- Tyler Puls, a senior history education major from Geneseo, and nine other Buena Vista University participants took part in an AWOL (Alternative Week of Off-site Learning) trip during spring break, enabling them to volunteer their time and service with a focus on tackling poverty and serving youth in Eagle Butte, S.D.

AMES, IA - The Iowa FFA Agriscience Fair was held at Hilton Coliseum in Ames on Thursday, March 30, 2017. The Iowa FFA Agriscience Fair is open to 7-12 grade students. First Place winning students have the opportunity to exhibit their Agriscience research in six different categories: Animal Systems; Environment Services/Natural Resource Systems; Food Products and Processing Systems; Plant Systems; Power, Structural and Technical Systems; and Social Systems.

AMES – The Iowa Department of Education for the 2016-2017 school year has once again identified Agriculture Education as a teacher shortage area. The Iowa Association of Agriculture Educators (IAAE), as part of a Teach Ag grant program, are focusing efforts to combat this shortage.

Skip-a-Long Child Development Services believes all children can reach their full potential when given the chance to learn and grow with high quality early care and education. In collaboration with Child Abuse Council of the Quad Cities, four Skip-a-Long centers will “plant” blue pinwheel gardens to recognize early childhood educators’ roles in making sure children have safe, happy childhoods.

Bettendorf, Iowa, March 4, 2017 - Rivermont Collegiate student Angela Jones (8th Grade) and her sister Isabella Jones (Grade 6), both won first place in their categories at the 2017 State Science and Technology Fair of Iowa. The event was held at Iowa State University in Ames on March 31, 2017. There were more than 700 participants in this year’s competition.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (04/03/2017)-- Noel Huntley of Rock Island, IL, has received the Regents' Scholarship and Visual and Performing Arts Scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 2017-2018 academic year.

Huntley is the daughter of Dale Huntley Sr. and Dr. Lynn Garvin-Huntley, and will be a 2017 graduate of Alleman Catholic High School.

DAVENPORT — This coming summer, high school-aged students can participate in educational camps and instructional workshops at St. Ambrose University.

Summer offerings for 2017 will include a Mock Trial Camp, June 7-8; a Human Body Workshop and a Model United Nations Camp, both on June 19-20; and a Piano Camp, June 26-30.

The Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency and  Regional Office of Education is hosting its Teacher Job Fair on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at the Mississippi Bend AEA located at 729 21st Street in Bettendorf, from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.. The purpose of the Teacher Job Fair is to bring school districts looking for teachers together with teachers looking for jobs.
