This time of year, winter winds and snow often seem to leave us with gateways littered with debris. Not only does the litter impact our waterways, but it leaves our community looking less than inviting.

Residents, businesses and organizations can help us improve our community and prevent litter from making it our creeks and streams by volunteering to help cleanup all of that litter in a couple of ways:

Keep Iowa Beautiful is announcing the deadlines and information for the 2017 grant programs. "This is an opportunity for community groups and organizations to apply for funds, paint and tools to help with beautification and clean up projects," said Gerry Schnepf, Executive Director of KIB. "These grants help build stronger communities by improving the economic vitality and cultural climate of our Iowa communities."
