“I’m horrified by the shooting this morning at Maquoketa Caves State Park and devastated by the loss of three innocent lives. As we grieve this unimaginable tragedy, Kevin and I pray for the victims’ family members and the law enforcement officers who responded to the scene. We ask Iowans to do the same.”

DES MOINES, IOWA (July 21, 2022) — Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller called on legislators to pass bills to prevent fentanyl-related deaths.

“We know that many of the overdose deaths are accidental, often because people are unaware they’ve ingested a dose of fentanyl,” AG Miller said. “We have tools available that could reduce these deaths, but we must first change Iowa’s laws.”

The $100 million program, announced in April, invests in transformational attractions that will bolster the quality of life in Iowa communities, enhance tourism and attract new residents.
