Lane, is celebrating its 30th season of bringing the finest choral music to audiences in Galesburg and the Quad Cities.  This season includes some wonderful extras, in addition to the superb 20-voice ensemble that the region has come to know and love.  Nova opens the season on October 10th and 11th with Encore! Audience Favorites, a compilation of favorite pieces from the last 30 years.  With Tallis' If ye love me, Duruflé's Ubi caritas, Whitacre's Water Night and many folk songs and spirituals, this program has it all!  In December, A Nova Christmas will feature many familiar carols in traditional arrangements and a few new ones.  Come enjoy an evening of love joy and peace and make celebrating the holidays with Nova Singers a new holiday tradition.  February's concert, The World Beloved, a Bluegrass Mass, is an exciting collaboration between Nova Singers and bluegrass band, Monroe Crossing.   This unique piece combines traditional choral music with folk and bluegrass styles.  Lively and tuneful, yet infinitely moving, you will not want to miss this original work. The season concludes in April with Voices of the Prairie, a unique experience celebrating Midwestern art, poetry and song.  The concert will be paired with works of art by the Midwest Paint Group, and will feature Midwestern composers, songs about the prairie, and the world premiere of a new piece by Abbie Betinis on a poem by Carl Sandburg.  The Quad Cities concert will be held at the Figge Art Museum, and a special reception will follow both concerts.

Davenport, Iowa - It was 1995. Jeri Leinen Moeller approached a retired music teacher, Bob Gaston, to start a band for senior citizens. With no equipment or music library, he recruited six musicians to help put the word of the bands inception into the music community. What started as an opportunity for older musicians to gather and play their instruments, soon became only the second band in Iowa to become a part of the International New Horizons Band movement.

Fast forward 20 years, that small group of six has grown to more than 60 musicians with a full concert band instrumentation. The steady growth in membership and reputation is due largely to the twenty years of voluntary and able leadership from Bob Gaston. And the band is still going strong celebrating their 20th Anniversary, Thursday, September 10th with a special Anniversary performance at CASI, 1035 West Kimberly Road in Davenport.

"Health benefits for seniors who partake in musical activities are many. Our New Horizons Band is just one of several events happening during National Senior Center Month at CASI," said Laura Kopp, CASI President/CEO. "The New Horizons Band, CASI's Musical ambassadors, share their instrumental talents throughout the community. They gather each week on Thursday afternoons filling CASI's Celebration Hall with incredible music", added Kopp.

CASI's New Horizons Band performs concerts and programs each year throughout the Quad Cities area. Performing as far away as Des Moines and Chicago, local venues include the National Cemetery, Bettendorf Park Band Shell summer concert series and Red, White and Boom for Davenport One, to name just a few. A few songs to be performed at the 20th Anniversary Celebration include the Star Spangled Banner and God Bless America.

CASI's New Horizons Band 20th Anniversary Celebration Concert is a free concert withrefreshments following a toe tapping performance. Join us Thursday, September 10, 2015 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at CASI-The Center for Active Seniors, Inc., 1035 West Kimberly Road Davenport, Iowa.

CASI - The Center For Active Seniors, Inc., established in 1973, serves the needs of older adults by providing a variety of events and daily activities keeping older Quad Citians socially, mentally and physically engaged. As 10,000 baby boomers turn age 65 every day, "senior citizen" is being redefined as is the senior lifestyle. CASI's multi -pronged approach to helping seniors age successfully includes health and wellness initiatives, social engagement opportunities, lifelong learning and volunteer opportunities to keep the older adult active and involved with our Quad Cities community.

Senior Advocacy programs at CASI help older adults, their families, and caregivers with needs assessment helping partner them with other area agencies and programs keeping them in their own home for as long as is safely possible.

CASI's Jane's Place, the only adult day services center in Eastern Iowa, provides a comfortable, homelike atmosphere for adults who need supervised care during the day due to stroke recovery, Alzheimer's and dementia. Jane's Place provides just the right amount of personal care allowing maximum independence while at Jane's Place Day Service Center.

Featuring Monumental Works, Unique Ensembles and New Pops Events

The Quad City Symphony Orchestra (QCSO) has just opened seats for new season ticket subscribers.  And in their 101st year they still have something to say.  The thrilling 101st season will build on the blockbuster 100-year anniversary celebration and feature an amazing line-up of Masterworks as well as unique Signature Series ensembles and an expanded Pops event schedule.  All season ticket packages are now open to the public.

The Masterworks programs will begin October 3 and 4 with The Re-Creation, an exact re-creation of the first symphonic concert staged in the symphony's inaugural season in 1916.  The second program November 7 and 8 will feature the grace of Bach, the romance of Brahms, and the profundity of Shostakovich.  The December 5 and 6Masterworks will be a sleigh ride of winter fun capturing the spirit of the season with Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite, and Mozart's Piano Concerto #21. 2016 will feature Barber's lyrical concerto and Beethoven's Symphony #7 on February 6 and 7.  March 5 and 6 will showcase homegrown Quad Citians including Jacob Bancks, Benjamin Klemme, and Mark Timmerman bringing to life a World Premiere Bassoon Concerto.  Finally, April 2 and 3 will feature a rare treat, Mahler's massive and moving Symphony #2 "Resurrection".  Due to the extensive and expensive production featuring more than 200 instrumentalists and singers, Mahler #2 is often a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many concert-goers.  The final event will also feature Quad City Choral Arts.

The unique Signature Series ensemble programs begin with American Moderns, a collaborative effort with the Figge Art Museum on Sunday, September 20, coinciding with the Figge's last free exhibit day of American Moderns on Paper.  The season also features the Oasis Saxophone Quartet, Horn Trios, Arianna String Quartet and The Joy of Sextets.

Pops events are expanded this coming season.  This year's Quad City Bank & Trust Riverfront Pops:  Country Legends is to be held Saturday, September 12, 2015.  Again at the Adler Theatre, Holiday Pops boasts three all-new Cirque de la Symphonieperformances November 20 and 21, 2015.  A new affordable family concert, The Magical Music of Disney, will perform one show only April 9, 2016.

"People today are seeking all manner of experiences that inspire and that have the ability to transport them to a place of joy and hope for the future, and music is a sometimes overlooked vehicle for that transcendence...especially when enjoyed live," added Benjamin Loeb, QCSO executive director.

Individuals and groups reward themselves by experiencing in person this beautifully curated season while taking pride in the Quad City Symphony Orchestra's showcasing of local, national and international talent.  Souls are sure to soar throughout this year's season.

"The Hive is RIDICULOUSLY fun," said Chris Hardwick, CEO of Nerdist Industries.
